Sook’s Book Nook Dedication

October 15, 2015, was a very special evening at Creekside as family, friends, and colleagues gathered for a reception to dedicate Sook’s Book Nook.  The Nook was added to the Creekside Elementary School library by the generous donations of those that lovingly honored the memory of  Mrs. Barbara A. Sook

After her passing, family members asked in lieu of flowers that well wishers donate to the Creekside library.  The school worked very closely with family members to purchase books that Barbara Sook would have enjoyed, such as those with stories on the beach, New England, lobsters, dairy cows, Dr. Suess, bowling, Geronimo Stilton, baseball, and country music.   A mural was painted by former teacher, Mrs. Carol Carnegie, with these interests as well.  A bench, rug, signed bowling pin, OBX sand, and a memorial plaque were placed within a specific corner of Creekside’s library designated as “Sook’s Book Nook”.

Barbara Sook, an inspiring  teacher and mentor, was a retired 3rd grade and Title 1 teacher at Creekside.  Through these gifts, Barbara will continue to impact the lives of Creekside students as she lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
